What is a panorama deghosting?
The source photos for this example are taken at a crowded exhibition and there are people moving in the photo overlap regions:
With a naive approach to stitching this will result in semitransparent images of people blended from two or more inconsistent source photos. This resembles ghosts, hence the algorithm called “deghosting”.
Left image is without deghosting, right with deghosting.
Deghosting is possible because overlapping image regions contain much more information than needed for a panorama and the contradictory pixels can be discarded.
