Release Notes
Panorama Stitcher is available on the Mac App Store since version 1.7. This page contains notes both for the current and the earlier releases.
Version 1.11.1
- Fixed: incorrect Metal preview rendering on some Macs with NVidia GPUs.

- Native support for Apple M1.
- Preview rendering is switched to Metal from OpenGL for better compatibility with recent and future macOS releases.
- Other small bug fixes.
- Minimum required macOS version raised to 10.14
Version 1.10
- Support for very large source photos. This feature enables stitching high resolution scans.
- Panorama preview in crop editor is now zoomable. Note that the preview still has lower resolution than the exported panorama.
- Preference for disabling exposure alignment added. Warning: disabling exposure alignment may reduce panorama visual uniformity.
- Export in TIFF format uses transparency outside of a panorama instead of opaque background color.
- Stitching performance on large (>30 images) source sets improved.
- Support for Dark Mode. Dark Mode in Panorama Stitcher can be enabled independently from system settings via menu View/Dark Mode.
- Cursor hints in crop and projection editor added.
- Several reported crashes on macOS 10.14 are fixed.
- Improved translations.

Version 1.9.1
Fixes:
- Fixed: the app may exit unexpectedly after the main window was reopen.
- Fixed: the app cannot start properly on macOS 10.10.5.

Version 1.9
- Support for planar alignment. Now additionally to standard spherical panoramas it is possible to properly stitch oversized scans, microscope images, aerial maps etc.
- Photosphere tags are added to the output (for spherical panoramas with equirectangular projection). Panoramas with Photosphere tags are navigable on Facebook, Street View or any compatible image viewer.
- As requested by architectural photographers the grid in projection editor is more denser.
Fixes:
- Memory consumption on export of large images is reduced.
- EXIF date on panorama was sometimes in different timezone than source photos.
- Many small stability and performance fixes.

- Improved exposure levelling algorithm with better highlights rendition.
- Various bug fixes and stability improvements.

- Support for slightly varying source image sizes.
- Added a correction for not perfectly centered lenses.
- Fixed a bug with secondary screen.
- Minimum window size is reduced for better usability on smaller screens.

- New UI, developed from the ground up. Hardware accelerated panorama projection and crop editors.
- Lens shading correction and better exposure levelling.

- Grid lines are added to the crop and the projection editors.
- Drag and drop of source images to the dock icon is supported.
- Manual crop rectangle is now preserved after projection updates.
- Setting as an external editor in other apps is now possible.
- Default file name for a panorama is suggested based on source image names.
- Warning when stitching images of incompatible dimensions.
- Projection type is suggested based on panorama field of view.
- Final panorama resolution is calculated more accurately.
Several bugs were fixed:
- EXIF date was written incorrectly in some time zones.
- EXIF keywords are collected from all source images.
- A crash while saving more than 500 Megapixel panoramas is fixed.
- Many more stability improvements.
Version 1.6
- New rendering engine
- Reduction of inconsistencies from moving objects (people, tree branches, and the like)
- Correction of small to moderate radial lens distortions to reduce seam visibility.
- Robustness and performance improvements. For example, export of typical panorama in the reduce blur mode requires almost half of disk space (for caches) and time of those of previous version.
- EXIF metadata preservation. Tags from original photos are combined and saved in the panorama.
- Preferences for the exported panorama background color and default crop mode were added.
- Support of full screen mode (only OS X Lion and later)
- Fixed bugs:
- Crash was possible while exporting large TIFF files.
- Last import directory was not remembered in some cases.
Version 1.5.1
- French localization added.
- Export to TIFF was switched to integer 16 bit format instead of 32 bit floats.
- Drag and drop now works for the full app window, not only thumbnail area.
- Fixed several bugs. The most notable:
- Highlights were unnecessarily clipped on export.
- Auto horizon straightening for case of almost identical camera rotations between photos was inaccurate.
Version 1.5
- Improved algorithm of automatic horizon straightening.
- Output images are now saved with at least 300 DPI.

- Improved rendering of overexposed panorama areas.

- Support for different export formats, including TIF, EXR and PNG with transparency.
